List Your Business / ADMumbai: The Indian team won one gold and four silver medals at the 17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from Aug 17-26. The team was ranked eighth among 52 countries in themedals tally. Daksh Tayalia from Bengaluru won a gold, while Pune students Aayush Kuthari and Sanidhya Saraf and astudent each from Hyderabad and Bihar bagged silver medals. Over 230 students participated in the olympiad. This was the last of the senior science olympiads this year. Of the 18 students who took part in these olympiads from India, five won gold, 12 silver and one bronze. India will host the next IOAA in Aug 2025 in Mumbai, and the event will be organised by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.
